Diploma Course

Introduced in 2006, full-time, the Diploma Course is designed as well rounded performance-based musical training with students being required to attain a high standard on a major instrument or voice and be thoroughly exposed to all instrumental Families. In addition, students will have theory and history Courses to make them well-educated musicians. The School's objective is to make this course comparable to similar ones abroad.

Admission Requirements
Applicants for this course are expected to possess the following minimum requirements: The general Certificate of education (G.C.E) with five (5) subjects at ordinary "O" level including English Language.
OR
The Senior Secondary school Certificate (SSCE) with a credit pass in English language. These passes may be gained at more than one sitting, but must be obtained before admission. Admission Musical Requirements
Practical:
Grade Seven (7) or high pass Grade six (6) Distinction or Merit may be considered) Certificate of the MUSON School of Music or any other Music Examining body recognised by the MUSON School. Theory:
Grade Seven (7) or high pass Grade six (6) Distinction or Merit may be considered) Certificate of the MUSON School of Music or any other Music Examining body recognised by the MUSON School.

Please Note:
Applicants who posses the above practical and theory certificates would have also satisfied the GCE or SSCE requirements. Interested applicants who are deficient in the music requirements may be admitted to a remedial course. At the satisfactory completion of the remedial course and gaining the required certificates they can join the regular course.

Examination
Candidates are also expected to sit written entrance examinations in the following subjects:

Theory: approximately Grade 7 standard

Music history

Aural test in Basic Music Knowledge

Practical: performance of at least Grade 6 standard on a major instrument or voice before     a faculty jury.
